Medtronic is an international company which allows you to learn every day. You get a lot of opportunities to take up more responsibilities and to grow in your role. It is wonderful to be surrounded by a group of international colleagues who are enthusiastic and motivated. Together we always aim for higher and better.
I joined Medtronic only a year ago in the position of Training and Education Coordinator for BKP (Balloon Kyphoplasty, a part of the Spine division). I am responsible for organizing basic – and advanced – courses for surgeons and trainings for Medtronic employees, which explicate how to use the Medtronic BKP therapy. We also organize user meetings. Experienced surgeons come together to discuss cases and learn from each other. Furthermore, when there are product launches, we make sure that everybody receives the appropriate training.
Every day within Medtronic is different. Recently, I unexpectedly had to cover for a Swiss colleague who was running a course in the Netherlands. Everything was new to me, but the surgeons didn’t notice that and gave me compliments for the good organization of the training. It’s hard work, but very satisfying and rewarding.
It’s wonderful to be part of the Training & Education team. We travel a lot, and work closely together. We know we can rely on one another. It’s inspiring to know that we bring knowledge to surgeons that will one day treat patients with a Medtronic therapy.
